History of Bush Memorial

While serving as pastor of Troy's Southside Baptish Chruch, the Reverend W. M. Bush had a vision of planting a church in a growing area of town. Although he retired in 1950 before that dream became a reality, Rev. Bush's vision was kept alive by the Reverend E. C. Glenn who followed him to the Southside pulpit. On the first Sunday of July 1950, twenty-two members of Southside Baptist Church began the mission that would become Bush Memorial Baptist Chruch on February 3, 1952. An educational building was completed in April of 1952. Seven years later, a worship center was dedicated, and in 1976 a Christian life center was completed. Throughout the years, each of these buildings has been maintained and improved as the church has grown.

In the summer of 2001, Bush Memorial Baptist Church undertook the most visionary building project in its fifty-year journey with God - the construction of a new 450-seat worship center with nursery facilities and music suite. At the same time, major additons were made to the parking area. In March of 2002, this beautiful, state-of-the-art house of worship was dedicated. A few months later, a new suite of offices was completed.

Today, we continue to build on the solid foundation that was laid by our predecessors. Growing our relationship to God. Expanding and improving our ministries. Seeking to know and fulfill our purpose in God's great plan. That's what Bush Memorial is all about.
