Discipleship Ministry
Jesus' Great Commission to the church is to make disciples of all nations. A second essential element of making disciples is teaching them to apply all of their Scripture knowledge to everyday life through understanding, and ultimately to live in the wisdom of a biblical, God-centered, uniquely Christian worldview.
But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift. And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love. Ephesians 4:7, 11-16.
Discipleship is not only about growing in knowledge, understanding and wisdom, but also learning to use your gifts to build up the Body of Christ in love. This series of short-term small groups serves a training ground for believers who desire to serve God out of love at home, in the church, and in the community.
Bush offers several options to be intentionally equipped to accomplish these purposes through our regular discipleship strategy, which normally meets on Sunday nights during three regular semesters and one short J-term. We also have other means of spiritual growth through the course of the year which we encourage you to participate in. You can find out more about the Children, Youth and College groups in those sections of the website. See the Discipleship Ministry Calendar for information on upcoming groups.
